Motivational Interviewing
Strengthening Your Own Reasons for Change
People do not always enter treatment feeling completely certain about change. Questions, fears, hesitation, and conflicting feelings are normal.
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, person-centered therapeutic approach designed to help individuals explore their own motivations, values, concerns, and goals.
Instead of confronting or pressuring someone into change, the clinician works alongside the client to explore uncertainty, recognize strengths, identify discrepancies between current behaviors and personal goals, and strengthen the individual’s own reasons for moving forward.
This approach respects personal autonomy while helping individuals build confidence and motivation for recovery.
