Trauma-Informed Treatment
Care That Recognizes the Impact of Life Experiences
Trauma and difficult life experiences can influence substance use, mental health, relationships, emotional regulation, and the way someone responds to treatment.
Trauma-informed treatment recognizes those potential connections without assuming that every individual has experienced trauma or requiring someone to disclose experiences before they are ready. At Meridian, trauma-informed principles are incorporated into the treatment environment through an emphasis on physical and emotional safety, dignity, trust, collaboration, respect, and personal choice.
Our goal is to create an environment where clients can participate meaningfully in treatment while developing healthier ways to understand emotions, manage stress, communicate, establish boundaries, build relationships, and respond to difficult situations.
Trauma-informed care is not a single therapy. It is an approach that influences how care is provided throughout the treatment experience.
